The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Program (PFP) is accepting applications for the 2024 cycle until August 1, 2023!
YSEALI is the U.S. government’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia. If selected to participate as a YSEALI Professional Fellow, you will collaborate and share ideas, approaches, and strategies to develop solutions to pressing local and global challenges.
This PFP is open to recent university graduates and working professionals age 25-35 from any of the 11 YSEALI countries. Click HERE to learn more about the eligibility requirements .
The YSEALI 2024 PFP is a fully funded exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It facilitates a two-way, global exchange program designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, as well as build lasting, sustainable partnerships between mid-level emerging leaders from foreign countries and the United States. Professional Fellows are selected via an open, merit-based application process.
The 2024 YSEALI Professional Fellows Program offers leadership and professional development opportunities under each of the following Institute themes:
- Civic Engagement
- Economic Empowerment
- Governance and Society
- Sustainable Development and the Environment
What do Professional Fellows do in the United States?
Fellows are placed in non-profit organizations, private businesses, and local government offices across the country for individually-tailored professional development experiences. The fellows build a broad network with Americans and other participating fellows and develop a deeper understanding of U.S. society. Participants also develop individual action plans to address a challenge in their community or region to be implemented when they return home.
The YSEALI PFP will be administered in two cycles in 2024. Please note that this call for application is for both cycles. Applicants will be able to select their preferred theme and program cycle in the application. Each applicant will only participate in one cycle and can indicate one’s preferred cycle in each of their application. The 2024 YSEALI PFP is planned as a hybrid in-person/ virtual program, which will include substantive virtual activities that will be tentatively followed by a six-week U.S.-based exchange.
