Kamala Harris: America’s vice president
Kamala Devi Harris, a senator who had represented California in the U.S. Congress since 2017, broke barriers when she was inaugurated as vice president of the United States on January 20. She is the first woman — and the first person of African, Jamaican and South Asian ancestry — to occupy that position.

A Portrait references a shattered ‘glass ceiling’
While Kamala Harris shattered a few glass ceilings metaphorically — becoming the first woman, the first Black American and the first South Asian American elected vice president — Swiss artist Simon Berger did it literally.
