U.S. Embassy Supports East-West Center’s 2018 International Media Conference

U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michelle Giuda and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy Walter Douglas participated in the 2018 International Media Conference.

The Embassy is pleased to have supported the East-West Center and the 2018 International Media Conference, which took place June 25-27 in Singapore.

At a reception co-hosted by East-West Center and the Embassy on June 26, Chargé d’Affaires Melissa Brown said, “We support events like these because we recognize the important role that journalists and media organizations play in our societies.  Every year, we support the participation of journalists in U.S. exchange programs like the International Visitor Leadership Program, Foreign Reporting Tours, and other exchange programs including some hosted by the East-West Center.  In the past three years, we’ve funded 16 Singapore-based journalists to participate in such programs, and we hope to send more in the coming years.”

U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michelle Giuda and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy Walter Douglas also participated in the conference.
