U.S. Commercial Service, American businesses show their support for ASEAN Smart Cities Network

On the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Summit, nine U.S. companies took part in the USA CITY NOW showcase at the ASEAN Smart Cities Network November 11-15, 2018. Supported by the U.S. Commercial Service, the companies demonstrated their latest technology solutions to prepare ASEAN for the ongoing digital revolution.

On November 15, Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan visited the pavilion to meet with the companies representing the best of American creativity, diversity and opportunity. He mentioned in a Facebook post: “We are heartened by the support that our key partners have given the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN), and look forward to working with them, as well as the private sector, to grow and strengthen the ASCN further.”

The nine companies at the showcase were:

1)     Engineering firm AECOM demonstrating how it is bridging the global infrastructure gap to deliver critical assets for the wellbeing of local communities

2)     Finance and insurance corporation AIG showcasing how the company is modernizing the insurance industry with smart contracts and AI-based insurance solutions

3)     Software corporation Autodesk showcasing how design and construction management can be done in a virtual space

4)     Technology firm Dell providing smart healthcare solutions for ASEAN governments

5)     Technical professional services firm Jacobs exhibiting its smart cities model

6)     Financial services corporation Mastercard encompassing the themes of urban mobility, inclusion, cashless, travel, healthcare, trade, and human capital

7)     Precise timing equipment manufacturers Masterclock showcasing how their work keeps the world in sync

8)     Safety consulting and certification company UL showcasing how their work enables security and interoperability in smart cities

9)     Publishing firm Wiley providing massive online courses for citizens of “Smart Kampongs” in Indonesia
