New EducationUSA Advising Center in Singapore officially opens during International Education Week
U.S. Embassy Singapore Charge d’Affaires Rafik Mansour, CEO of XCL Education Brian Rogove, and CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore Dr. Hsien- Hsien Lei officially opened a new EducationUSA Advising Center located within XCL World Academy, at 2 Yishun Street 42.
Since 2014 EducationUSA has engaged over 54,000 students in Singapore and more than 33,000 Singaporeans have gone on to study in the United States since 2009.
The official opening for EducationUSA’s Advising Center in Singapore coincided with International Education Week and the annual release of the Open Doors Report, which tracks international educational exchange.
Despite COVID-19, the United States remains the top destination for international students. In 2020-2021, the United States welcomed over 914,000 international students from over 200 countries. Currently there are nearly 3,600 Singaporeans studying at U.S. universities.
Chargé d’Affaires Rafik Mansour said, “The United States remains open to international students, despite COVID-19 which has affected international educational exchange and student mobility around the world. We’re committed to assist international students to gain new perspectives in global classrooms, learn how to adapt to unfamiliar circumstances, work with diverse peers, and communicate across cultures and languages. Building life-long connections also creates a platform for future leaders to work together to solve the world’s toughest challenges. This center is here to help people have those experiences and build those life-long friendships.”
Supported by the U.S. Department of State, the EducationUSA center aims to promote, higher education in United States to students around the world by offering free, accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited post-secondary institutions in the United States. The EducationUSA center, which is implemented by the American Chamber of Commerce Singapore in partnership with XCL World Academy, will offer workshops and college counseling services for all students interested in studying in the United States.
