Meet Commander Mimi Gaffney, our Assistant Naval Attaché who has dedicated 20 years of her life to serving our country in the United States Navy. In her current role, Mimi’s had the opportunity to serve her country in various capacities and work alongside some of the best in the field.

Mimi’s journey began as a young woman determined to serve her country after the tragedy of 9/11. She grew up surrounded by water and admired the military values of discipline, honor, and courage.

Over the years, Mimi’s served in various roles and traveled to different parts of the world. She’s deployed on several missions, including a deployment on the USS Enterprise, which sailed through the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, and a deployment in Afghanistan. Over the span of her service, her exemplary service has been recognized through numerous awards and accolades.

Now, after 20 years of dedicated service, Mimi is retiring from the Navy. As she reflects on her journey, Mimi is grateful for the lessons she has learned and experiences she has had. She credits the Navy with helping her develop her leadership skills and teaching her the importance of teamwork, dedication, and commitment.

Mimi is also proud to be a role model for women, especially during this #womenshistorymonth. She hopes that her story will inspire other women to consider careers in the military and other male-dominated fields. Outside of her work in the Navy, Mimi leads an active lifestyle and is an accomplished pianist. She finds that both pursuits help her to unwind and focus her mind after a long day on the job.

In her retirement, Mimi plans to continue serving her community and making a positive impact in the world. She is excited to see where life takes her next and is grateful for the opportunities the Navy has given to serve her country and grow as a person.
