Filing Form I-600 Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative in Singapore
Effective immediately, the Immigrant Visa unit at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore will accept Form I-600, Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative from U.S. citizens who are resident in Singapore. Petitioners must have already received approval of their Form I-600A from the USCIS. The child beneficiary must be a Singapore citizen. To demonstrate residency in Singapore, the U.S. citizen petitioner must be able to furnish evidence that the petitioner has been granted permission to reside in Singapore. Such evidence includes Singapore Permanent Residence, a Work Pass issued by the Ministry of Manpower, a Dependent Pass issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority or the Ministry of Manpower, or other evidence of permanent stay granted by the Singapore Government. U.S. citizens who are present in Singapore on a temporary basis, including short visit pass holders and students do not meet the residential requirement and should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence for guidance.
