FY 2020 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF)

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is pleased to announce the FY 2020 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF).  The Global AEIF 2020 Competition will provide resources for alumni projects around the world to advance women’s and girls’ safety and their meaningful participation in peace and security processes.  This year’s theme focuses on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), at least one of the four WPS pillars:

  • Strengthen the role of women in peace, security, and governance
  • Engage women as partners in preventing terrorism and countering radicalization and recruitment
  • Promote protection of women and girls from violence, abuse, and exploitation
  • Support women’s political and civic participation

Competition Format: 

  • U.S. Embassy Singapore will accept proposals from $5,000 up to $25,000, proposed and managed by teams of at least two alumni that support at least one of the four WPS pillars
  • Proposals must be submitted as .pdf files and budgets as .xls files

Eligibility: 

  • Proposals must be submitted by teams comprised of at least two (2) alumni of U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs
  • Alumni who are U.S. citizens may be part of the team, however, there must be at least two non-U.S. citizen alumni on the project team
  • All project activities must take place outside of the United States and its territories

Application Review Process: 

All applications will be screened for technical eligibility based on the objectives, priorities, requirements, ineligible activities, and unallowable costs contained in this funding opportunity.  Once this initial screening has been completed, a selection committee will rate all technically eligible applications using the following point-based system:

  • Purpose and summary, description, and implementation plan      (20 points)
  • Relevance of the project to women, peace, and security                (10 points)
  • Degree of alumni involvement                                                             (10 points)
  • Participation and support from local partners                                  (10 points)
  • Evaluation and impact of the project                                                  (10 points)
  • Sustainability                                                                                          (10 points)
  • Communication, media and outreach plan                                       (10 points)
  • Budget and budget narrative                                                               (20 points)
