Carrier Strike Group 9 Arrives in Singapore

On April 3, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) hosted a ship tour for members of media associations. The guests were very excited to see the flight deck where aircraft are launched and returned.

The U.S. Navy Carrier Strike Group 9, comprising of aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) with embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, the guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), guided-missile destroyers USS Sampson (DDG 102), USS Preble (DDG-88), and USS Halsey (DDG-97) arrived in Singapore for a regularly scheduled port visit, April 2.

On April 3, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) hosted a ship tour for members of media associations.  The guests were very excited to see the hangar bay where aircraft are maintained and stored, and the flight deck where aircraft are launched and returned.  They also got to tour the navigation bridge and hear about how the whole USS Theodore Roosevelt team works to ensure the safety and security of the 5,000-strong crew onboard.

On April 4, at a Big Top reception onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath welcomed all 6,500 members of Carrier Strike Group 9  to Singapore.  She said to them, “You are protecting peace and stability around the world, from the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Inherent Resolve to the South China Sea, where you are helping to preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific region enabling all of us to prosper together.

USS Theodore Roosevelt is deployed in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
