Ambassador Wagar hosts Iftar reception for local Muslim community

Each year, the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore hosts an Iftar reception during the holy month of Ramadan for the local Muslim community to break fast together.

Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs, served as the Guest of Honor at the Embassy’s celebration last night. Other VIP guests included Dr. Mohamad Maliki Osman, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Defence & Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mohamed Zaqy, MP for Chua Chu Kang; and Habib Hassan Al-Attas, Imam of Ba’alwie mosque.

While wishing everyone, “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri”, Ambassador Wagar remarked: “Your presence here tonight is an affirming sign that the spirit of goodwill and fellowship at the heart of Ramadan will live on as we continue working to build relationships borne of understanding and respect. This is vitally important work and I count myself as blessed that I share this noble responsibility with a group of men and women such as this.”
